We had our annual service to celebrate our feast day on the 27th November. Four schools competed-St Margaret’s, Priory, Queensway and St Marychurch, for a place in the next round’s level 2 competition. A group of students from years 9 and 10 participated in a day of teamwork, leadership, Marine style physical training and problem solving on Friday 13th November. The students (who didn’t know each other that well) took part in a variety of exercises designed to test their ability to work together to solve logistical problems.
In true St Cuthbert Mayne tradition October was changed to Tintober this year. Each year students and staff donate tins of food for those in need. This year we set ourselves a target to collect 2015 tins throughout the month. We are absolutely delighted to have smashed the target with a total of 3355 tins
Remembrance day yesterday was another big event for us this year. A ceremony took place where a group of students placed a poppy on the REMEMBER artwork that was kindly carried out by Plandscape prior to this very important day. A 2 minute silence was held by all staff and students as we took time
The latest Ten Tors training walk took place on Sunday 8th November ,the team walked to a war memorial on Dartmoor of a young nineteen year old soldier, who was killed in the first world war. We marked the 2 minute silence at the memorial and placed a couple of poppies on the base of the cross.
