Back in October St Cuthbert Mayne hosted an inset session for primary school teachers to develop their knowledge and understanding of the game of High 5 Netball. It was great to see teachers from St Margaret’s Academy, Homelands, Priory, Barton Hill Academy, St Marychurch, Roselands, Ilsham and Shiphay all present and enthusiastic to further their Netball coaching and umpiring skills.
As a result of the inset several of the teachers asked if they could bring their students to come and watch the STCM teams play a match to enable their students to see the game of Netball in action. Therefore, Tuesday 10th November was the date of the ‘STCM Netball Exhibition Match’. All the primary schools who attended the inset were invited to bring their teams to watch and then participate in a skills session with the STCM players.
The primary students engaged in drills based around the key skills of footwork, passing, shooting, defending and spatial awareness. Jenny Price from St Margaret’s commented; ‘Our players gained such a lot from the event and had a very enjoyable afternoon. Please give our thanks to your students who, so generously, gave up their time to pass on their experience in such a mature and confident way. You must be very proud of them!’
We now wish all the primary teams the best of luck in the upcoming High 5 Netball League.
