Primary Schools Tag Rugby Festival

Last week St Cuthbert Mayne School hosted a Tag Rugby festival for year 5/6 students from our cluster of primary schools. Each of the 5 schools attending brought an A and a B squad and competed against each other in a round robin format.

In the weeks prior to the festival Miss Truscott and Miss Roberts visited all the schools to deliver a training session to prep participants on the rules and skills required for the event. On the day the games were refereed by STCM students who all had rugby playing and officiating experience. The standard of play was high and all players gave 100% with some outstanding individual tries on display.

In the A pool the eventual winners, having won all their games, were St Marychurch who go on to play in the level 2 Torbay wide competition along with St Margaret’s who were runners up. In the B Pool St Margaret’s were the winners also finishing on maximum points. Good luck to both schools in the next round.
