The STCM level 1 Handball competition for local primary schools was held at STCM last Thursday. Four schools competed-St Margaret’s, Priory, Queensway and St Marychurch, for a place in the next round’s level 2 competition.
As Handball is a relatively new sport in the curriculum, all participating school were offered training prior to the event so that students were up to speed with the rules and skills required to compete. This ensured all schools arrived at the competition with the same degree of knowledge and understanding ready to play.
The competition took a round robin format with all schools playing each other. After a closely fought competition it went down to the last game, Queensway against St Margaret’s, to decide the winners. On this occasion Queensway came out on top with a 6-2 victory with key player Theo Gately impressing the spectators.
Queensway and St Margaret’s now both go through to the next round on 10th December-Best of luck to both teams!
