Work Experience

The school works closely with employers locally and nationally to ensure we have a high quality and meaningful work experience programme for students. We are grateful to the fantastic employers that we work with, who recognise the importance and mutual benefits of giving our students the opportunity to work with them.

WOW Day (World of Work Day) – The work experience programme starts in Year 9 where students have the opportunity to experience one day at work with a family member or close family friend. This starts students on the journey of exploring the work place and the skills required to be an ‘employee’. This will be in July.

Year 10 Work Experience – June 2017.

In Year 10 students have the opportunity to spend a week in the workplace. Students can choose where they would like to go, and are expected and encouraged to secure their placements, by contacting employers directly. However there is a lot of support for students on the journey. Miss Ricketts is available to offer encouragement, lots of contacts, advice on letter writing, and to ensure that employees and students are aware of their responsibilities regarding work experience.

Students have experienced a wide and exciting variety of placements in the past, including: The House of Commons, Police stations, The Fire Service, Radio Stations, Hi Tech Engineering Companies, Dentists, Vets, Graphic Designers, Architects, Nurseries, High quality catering and retail outlets.. and a lot more!

Sixth Form – We recognise that it is important for students not only to achieve their potential in terms of grades, but to also acquire work related skills and knowledge through a variety of experiences that are coveted by employers and HE providers alike. Our Sixth Form students are supported and encouraged to seek regular and long term work experience in order to ensure that when they leave education they are highly employable in a competitive job market, and historically work experience also supports a student’s personal statement when applying for higher education.

If you are:

  • A student looking for support with your work experience.
  • A parent / guardian who would like to discuss work experience for your son / daughter.

or
