27 Jun Carnegie Shadowing Event

A group of Year 9 students represented our school at the School’s Library/CILIP annual Carnegie Shadowing event held at The Spires Academy on the 16th of June 2016. There were 8 schools present from Devon and Torbay and each group had to deliver a presentation on one of this year’s short listed books. Our group had a particularly challenging book that dealt with some difficult and sensitive issues. However, they had worked very hard over the last 8 weeks and delivered a heart-felt and mature presentation. They even managed to make Tanya Landman (last year’s Carnegie Medal award winner and author of Buffalo soldier) who was the guest author cry a little!
Our team  came second overall. The students who took part were: Mia Bastow, Alexia Vicente, Shalin Thekkel , Carelle Tevez, Alicia Fey , Katrina Fey , Sara Mainez , Sophie Hamlin, and Sammy Westaway . Well done!
