Local Rotary ‘Public speaking WINNERS’!

On Saturday 13th January 2018 4 teams from STCM entered the local Rotary Youth Speaks public speaking competition which is the first heat in the national competition. The competition was split into 2 categories intermediate and senior with 2 teams from year 8 competiting in the intermediate and 2 teams from year 11 competiting in the senior category. Teams have been busy in the last week at lunchtimes perfecting their speeches and performances with their coach Mrs Richards and on the day all gave very polished performances.
Students were well rewarded for their efforts with Evie Alexander winning best Chairperson and Laura Rodger winning Best Vote of Thanks in the senior competition and in the Intermediate Annie Udomdej winning Best Vote of Thanks and Jack Smith winning Best Chairperson and Best Overall Performance. As a finishing touch to the day one of our year 8 teams actually won the overall competition as a complete team and are now progressing through to the next round representing Torbay in the South West District Finals in Plymouth on the 3rd February. Congratulations to all students that took part!
