25 Nov Primary Athletics Competition

Thursday 17th November saw us welcome 4 local primary school s to St Cuthbert Mayne for our annual Sport Hall Athletics Competition. Homelands, St Margaret’s, Priory and St Marychurch were all in attendance striving to become the team that make it through to the Torbay finals.

Teams competed in the field events first including speed bounce, standing long jump, chest push and standing triple jump with each team finishing up with an accumulative total score.

We then moved on to the excitement of the track events with the traditional indoor athletics format of having the start/finish line in the middle of the hall and participants running lengths of the hall ensuring they hit the kick boards at each end.

After some strong performances across the board St Marychurch were announced the eventual winners of both the year 3/4 and 5/6 competitions with St Margaret’s coming in second. Both schools now progress to the Torbay round on 8th December. Good luck to both schools!
