Peter Brown – Staff Headteacher Governor
Peter has been teaching for 22 years (across a number of subjects but mainly in P.E. and Maths). He joined St Cuthbert Mayne School in 2003 initially as Assistant Headteacher in charge of 6th Form. In 2007 he became Deputy Headteacher and in September 2014 he took the position of Headteacher.
Michael Cronin – Roman Catholic Foundation Governor
Michael is currently the Chair of the Curriculum Committee and has been a governor at St Cuthbert Mayne for the past two years. Both of his children attend the school. He is also a member of the Chairs, Ethos and Finance Committees. Michael is a retired Metropolitan C.I.D. Officer and for the past 12 years has been involved in School Governance in both Pre-School and Primary School. His main interests are his family, reading, theatre, golf and cycling.
Erica Dunn – Anglican Foundation Governor
Erica has been a governor at St Cuthbert Mayne School since January 2008 and Chair of Governors since 2011. She became a Parent Governor when her two daughters attended the school and subsequently has become a Foundation Governor. Prior to this she was a governor at Kingskerswell Primary school for 7 years. Erica has spent 28 years working as a nurse. She has been a ward manager and is currently working as a matron at a local NHS trust. Her interests are reading and walking.
Samantha Hart – Parent Governor
Sam joined our Governing Body in October 2013 as a Parent Governor. Her son is currently in Year 10. Sam works full time for Teignbridge District Council as an EHO in Food and Health & Safety. She currently attends St Mary Magdalene C of E Church. Her interests include travel, reading and cooking. Samantha has recently trained as a workplace coach.
Father Paul Jones – Church of England Foundation Governor
Fr Paul is Chair of the Finance Committee and a recent addition to the Governing Body at St Cuthbert Mayne. Fr Paul is Vicar of All Saints, Babbacombe, Rural Dean, Chair of Governors at All Saints Babbacombe (CofE) Primary School and a qualified accountant. His interests include reading, watching cricket, swimming and above all fly fishing.
Michael Locke – Parent Governor
Mike has been a Governor at St Cuthbert Mayne, since 2010 when his daughter joined the school. He is currently involved with several committees being the Chair of Sites & buildings & Vice Chair of Curriculum & Admissions. Mike is also our Link Governor responsible for our Gifted & Talented students / Developmental Studies group. Originally employed in the electrical trade for 17yrs as a manager / sales representative, he made a career change to join the Metropolitan Police Service before transferring to his current role as a Detective Constable with the Devon & Cornwall Constabulary.
Abraham Martin – Staff Governor
Abraham has been a Governor since 2014. Abraham has been employed at St Cuthbert Mayne since 2007 and currently teaches RE and is the Year 10 Coordinator.
Archdeacon John Rawlings – Foundation Governor
I have been an Anglican Foundation Governor of St Cuthbert Mayne since 2006 when I became Archdeacon of Totnes and am a member of the personnel and the sites and buildings committees. I was Vicar of Tavistock (1992-2006) and chair of governors of two Church of England Schools in the town. I was also a governor of Marjons College in Plymouth and of Kelly College. Before that I was a chaplain in the Royal Navy (1976-1992). I am married to Janette, a retired nursing sister, and have two grown up children and five grandchildren.
Monica Trist – RC Foundation Governor
Monica, our vice-chair of governors, has been a governor at St Cuthbert Mayne, which her 3 children attended, since 2003. She is currently Chair of Personnel and a member of the Ethos, Admissions, Finance and Chairs committees, and is our named governor for Safeguarding. Following 26 years in a variety of managerial roles in HMRC (formerly Inland Revenue), Monica is now employed as Corporate Governance Manager at a local NHS Trust. Her interests are her family, travel, reading and gardening.
David Witchell – Foundation Governor
David is a foundation governor for the Diocese of Exeter, and has served as a voluntary Anglican chaplain for St Cuthbert Mayne when required. He is vicar of St Paul’s Preston and Christ Church Paignton, and as a former teacher has an interest in education. He had two church schools in in his last parish in Wellingborough, and served on the Peterborough Diocesan Board of Education. David has 5 children, 4 of whom have passed through St Cuthbert Mayne School, and the youngest who is a pupil here in year 7.
Fiona Warwick – Clerk to the Governors
Fiona has worked in several schools throughout Torbay, in secretarial/receptionist roles. She has two sons, both of whom are married, and one baby granddaughter.
