The course will encourage students to work collaboratively and independently on both solo and group choreography to nurture your creativity. Weekly technique classes will develop your strength, flexibility, coordination and stamina. Choreography classes provide you with an opportunity to explore your own creative ideas.
Assessment Method
The qualification will be graded and certificated on a nine-grade scale from 9 to 1 where 9 is the highest grade.
Component 1: Performance and Choreography (60% of GCSE)
Practical work – internally marked and externally moderated
Performance – 30% of GCSE, 40 marks
Choreography – 30% of GCSE, 40 marks
Component 2: Dance Appreciation (40% of GCSE)
Written exam – 1 hour 30 minutes 40% of GCSE, 80 marks
Students will take the exam in June at the end of Year 11.
