A Greener School

The Eco Club at STCM have been looking at ways to improve our school environment. So far, we have completed a survey of the school grounds and looked at things such as location/types of bins, biodiversity, energy and litter. Amongst other exciting projects, we have created a log pile, made artwork from recycled carrier bags, planted lots of trees/flowers, converted to eco coffee cups and have made fat balls to encourage more birds into our 6th Form Eco garden.

We are also in the process of making eco-bricks from plastic waste. Here’s a link about making Eco-bricks if you’d like to get involved:

We have registered as a collection point for anyone in the local community who has made an eco-brick. The plan is to make a structure for the garden once we have enough of them!

We’re working towards the Eco School Award and would really appreciate any involvement from parents and the local community. Any students who’d like to join the group….come along to E4 on Tuesday lunchtimes! You’ll have lots of fun and make positive changes to our planet in the process!
